Definition of "Saturation" by Graphic Design Newcastle:

In graphic design and color theory, saturation refers to the intensity or purity of a color. It describes how vivid, rich, or dull a color appears.

  • High saturation means the color is bright, vibrant, and pure.
  • Low saturation means the color appears more muted, washed out, or closer to gray.

Saturation is one of the three components of the HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) and HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) color models, commonly used in digital design and image editing software. Adjusting saturation can dramatically affect the mood and visual impact of a design.
